Personal Project Update

Hello again

My project got approved my Haile Middle School a few days ago! Woot Woot!

Holly however, contacted me to ask if we could move the project to another school. Yikes.

I have grown close with the kids at Haile and still dont know what will happen. Its just something to consider.

I am working on the programs syllabus which sounds so much more easy than it really is. Im definitely not tossing them in the trash next year as I receive them from my teachers lol. They are useful!

Personal Project

Hello!

I chose to work with a group of middle school kids trying to re integrate art into their curriculum.

I thought of a project that would allow us to meet and go over basic art principles an mediums. I am also hoping that by working with them through art, their general attitude towards school and their greater world improves. Holly Clouse, the woman I am working closely with on the project and my main connection at the school, hopes that the program will also help students improve academically.

Children First Mural Update

Hello Fellows. I have been working with Children First mural project for a few weeks now. And strangely enough neglected blog about it.

Week 1 :

When coming up for a concept for the mural I remembered learning that the children are fed a healthy, nutritional meal every day, and that it is very important in their day to have a stable meal. So I wanted to create a mural showing the children that the food they eat comes from the ground and is produced from the animals that they know and love. So I designed a garden with fruit and veggies growing in the ground and children mothering the plants. I also designed a farm yard, showing that milk comes from cows and eggs from chickens etc. 

Below is my first sketch of my idea. 

Week 2 

I emailed my sketch for approval, and the woman who needed to approve the design was out of town. So I decided to color my design. 

My design was reviewed and the garden design was approved, however I was asked to create a design showing more exercise and playground actives instead of the farm scene. So I drew up a playground scene to add to the garden scene.  Which was loved and approved with some minor adjustments. 

So I began painting the wall this week :) 

Ideas for new concept.

Sketches for the new concept. We are thinking of doing something involving the layers of the earth.

The drawing above is my idea for the first wall on the right going up to the second floor.

This drawing would be the next one that you see halfway to the second floor.

I'm still working on more sketches for the next levels.
